1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how YU ("YU", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you use the YU mobile application (the "App", available on Google Play and the App Store), our website at yuapp.az, and our laundry pickup, cleaning, and delivery services (together, the "Services").

YU is the data controller responsible for your personal information. By creating an account or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account & identity data: your full name, phone number, and (optionally) email address. We verify your phone number with a one-time SMS code (OTP).
  • Address & location details: the delivery/pickup addresses you save, including street address, building, apartment, floor, entrance/intercom code, notes, and the precise map coordinates (latitude and longitude) of the location you select.
  • Order data: the services and items you order, quantities, special instructions and comments, preferred pickup/delivery times, promo codes, and your order history.
  • Photos: photos you choose to take with your camera or select from your gallery to show the items to be cleaned.
  • Referral data: your referral code and information about referrals/invited users and any earnings or credits associated with your account.
  • Communications: messages, feedback, and support requests you send to us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device & technical data: device model, operating system and version, app version, language settings, and unique device or installation identifiers.
  • Usage & log data: actions you take in the App, screens viewed, IP address, access times, and diagnostic information used to operate, secure, and improve the Services.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive personal data, and we ask that you do not include such data in order comments or photos.

3. Device Permissions

The App requests the following permissions. You can grant or revoke them at any time in your device settings; some features may not work without them.

  • Location — to detect your current location and help you select an accurate pickup and delivery address on the map. Precise location is collected only while you use this feature.
  • Camera — to let you take photos of the items you want cleaned and attach them to an order.
  • Photos / Storage — to let you select existing photos from your gallery to attach to an order.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • create and manage your account and authenticate you via SMS one-time code;
  • receive, process, route, fulfil, and deliver your orders;
  • calculate prices, apply promo codes, and process payments and any refunds;
  • show you order status and send you service-related notifications and messages;
  • provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • operate our referral program and manage earnings/credits;
  • maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Services and prevent fraud and abuse;
  • send you promotional offers and updates where you have consented (you can opt out at any time);
  • comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Services), your consent (for example, location, marketing), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Services), and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Payment Information

YU does not collect or store your full card number, CVV, or PIN. Card payments are processed directly by our certified third-party payment provider, YIGIM (Magnet), which complies with the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). Your card details are entered on and handled exclusively by the payment provider.

For each transaction we retain only non-sensitive payment records needed for order fulfilment, accounting, and dispute handling — for example the amount, currency, status, a masked card reference (such as the card scheme and a partial/last-digits identifier), and the transaction reference and approval codes returned by the payment provider.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to provide the Services, and with the following categories of recipients:

  • Delivery and operations staff/partners — who collect, clean, and deliver your orders, and who may see your name, phone number, address, and order details to do so.
  • Payment provider — YIGIM (Magnet), to process payments and refunds.
  • SMS provider — Ata Texnologiya, to deliver one-time verification codes and transactional messages.
  • Cloud storage and infrastructure providers — Google Firebase / Google Cloud Storage, to securely store photos and files you upload, and our hosting provider.
  • Maps and geolocation providers — such as Google Maps, to display maps and help you select an address.
  • Authorities — courts, regulators, or law enforcement, where required by law or to protect our legal rights, safety, or property.
  • Business transfers — a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or reorganization, subject to this Policy.

These providers act as our processors and are permitted to use your data only to perform services for us and under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information is primarily processed and stored on servers located in Azerbaijan. Some of our service providers may process data in other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.

8. Data Retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy:

  • account and profile data — for as long as your account is active;
  • order and transaction records — for the period required by applicable tax and accounting laws (which may be several years) even after your account is closed;
  • photos and order comments — generally deleted or anonymized once they are no longer needed to fulfil and support the related order;
  • diagnostic and log data — for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls and role-based authorization, and secure storage. While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and request a copy;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data (you can edit much of it in the App);
  • request deletion of your data (see Section 11);
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • withdraw consent (for example, for location or marketing) at any time;
  • lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority.

11. Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing info@yuapp.az from the email or with the phone number linked to your account, or by contacting us at +994 55 646 04 84. We will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as financial and transaction records) to comply with legal obligations.

12. Marketing and Notifications

We may send you service-related messages (such as order updates), which are necessary to provide the Services. With your consent, we may also send promotional messages. You can opt out of promotional communications at any time by following the instructions in the message, adjusting your device notification settings, or contacting us at info@yuapp.az. Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages.

13. Children's Privacy

The Services are intended for users aged 18 and over and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

14. Cookies (Website)

Our website may use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and remember basic preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The mobile App does not use advertising cookies.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App or by other means. Your continued use of the Services after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
